Description: The collection Bibliothèque de Poche du Naturaliste favoured coloured pictures over long descriptions, low prices, and a practical and portable format – all part of a strategy to facilitate “teaching the public the names of the main home plants, their properties and uses, without the reader being acquainted with botanical names.” For the same reason, in this book plants are presented in the order in which they grow, instead of a more abstract scientific classification. These types of popular books were published by many botanical societies.
